Randi Bean
President & Founder


Randi Bean launched Life After Law in 2000. With her legal and human resources backgrounds, she assists lawyers looking to make career transitions by helping them utilize their legal skills in in-house counsel, executive, non-traditional and quasi-legal career paths. As well, she has developed a regular client roster with clients ranging from small start-ups to large multinational companies.

Randi was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996, after obtaining her law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. She has an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Western Ontario.


Randi articled with a small criminal law boutique in downtown Toronto, and continued in this area of practice. Shortly thereafter, Randi recognized her desire to make a career transition. Randi first worked as a Contracts Manager at a large manufacturing company before further transitioning, to work with an HR consulting organization, as well as facilitating communications workshops. It was this transition which set the stage to launch Life after Law.

In the last 17 years, Randi has worked closely with clients and candidates to foster solid, long term relationships. She combines her extensive HR and law experience along with her demonstrated relationship building abilities, to operate a first-rate, service oriented organization, that continually exceeds clients’ expectations.

 

Michaela Krell
National Director, Search & Recruitment


As National Director, Michaela oversees the Search and Recruitment function for Life After Law across North America. Specializing in Ontario and British Columbia mandates, she works closely with candidate lawyers looking to utilize their legal skills in non traditional career paths as well as with clients ranging from small local organizations to large multi-national operations.

Michaela obtained her law degree from Osgoode Hall law school in 2003 and has an undergraduate (honours) Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University. She is a member of both the Ontario and New York State Bars.

After completing her articles with a reputable civil litigation boutique in downtown Toronto, Michaela transitioned into the legal recruitment industry. At first focusing on domestic recruitment of lawyers, Michaela then moved to an organization specializing in international placements, successfully placing lawyer candidates into some of the largest law firms worldwide. Michaela now focuses on her Canadian and US Client base to help fulfill their various hiring needs by placing lawyers who are ready to transition into in-house counsel or non traditional career path options.

Michaela brings her background in psychology and law along with extensive domestic and international recruitment industry experience to assess both her client and candidate needs, to ultimately find the perfect fit between lawyer candidates and client job opportunities.

 

Judy Kremer
National Manager, Search & Recruitment


As National Manager of Life After Law, Judy is responsible for search and recruitment, business development and career consulting services for Quebec and Ontario. She places legal professionals of all levels into in-house counsel positions and executive and non-traditional roles. Her clients range from small businesses to large multinational corporations.

Judy began her legal career in a top tier national law firm where she articled and practiced corporate, commercial and securities law. She is a member of the Quebec Bar and a recipient of the prestigious Killam Fellowship award for having studied at American University in Washington, D.C. Judy's background in Law, Science, Psychology, Public Affairs and Management makes her uniquely positioned to assist a diverse clientele. Prior to joining Life After Law, she worked as a senior recruiting consultant for a well-known Executive and Legal Search firm in Montreal.

Judy likes to remain active in the broader community by speaking at seminars, attending networking events and dedicating her spare time to several not-for-profit organizations. She has a keen interest in international projects and has traveled abroad on several occasions, for volunteer and educational purposes.

 

Margot Ferguson
National Manager, Search & Recruitment


As National Manager of Life After Law, Margot is responsible for search and recruitment, client development and career consulting services for Atlantic Canada and Ontario. She places legal professionals of all levels into in-house counsel positions and executive and non-traditional roles. Her clients are wide-ranging, and include small businesses, law firms, and large multinational corporations.

Margot has practiced law since 1995, having been called to the Bars of Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotiafollowing her graduation from Osgoode Hall Law School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Master of Arts in Sociology from Acadia University, with minors in Psychology and English. She has a wealth of experience, having worked in a wide range of firm settings, geographical locations, and legal practice areas for an equally diverse group of individual and corporate clients. She also has the business experience of establishing her own innovative legal consulting practice. With this background, she relates personally to both corporate clients and lawyer candidates.

Margot nurtures connections with many networks across Canada and internationally, and has built a reputation as a trusted and skilled advisor. She takes clients’ and candidates’ needs to heart and enjoys great satisfaction from helping them.

 

Pearl Prokosh
National Manager, Search & Recruitment


As National Manager of Life After Law, Pearl is responsible for search and recruitment, business development and career consulting services for Quebec, Ontario and the US. She places legal professionals of all levels into private practice, in-house counsel, executive and non-traditional roles. She works with a range of clients, from boutique law firms to national law firms and from small companies to large multinational corporations.

Pearl graduated with Distinction from McGill University Law School in 2002, with both Civil and Common Law degrees (B.C.L., LL.B.). She also completed her undergraduate degree in History (B.A.) at McGill University with Great Distinction. She has been called to the Bars of California and Massachusetts.

After practicing for several years as a transactional real estate lawyer in the Los Angeles office of two international law firms, where she worked on multi-million dollar transactions, Pearl transitioned into the legal recruitment industry in 2006. She joined a Montreal based legal and executive search firm, where she worked as a Senior Legal Recruiter placing lawyers at all different levels in private practice and in house counsel opportunities and she advised numerous candidates throughout the years regarding their career paths.

Pearl's extensive legal recruitment background, along with her prior experience as a lawyer at international law firms, allow her to thoroughly understand both candidate and client needs. She is able to effectively find ideal candidates for client job opportunities and she has developed lasting professional relationships.
