Our client, a leading insurance company in Canada and the US is looking for a Casualty Claims Specialist (7+ years experience) for their Montreal Office. Known for their excellent reputation, financial strength and amazing employment opportunities, this role will allow you to grow your skills and further your career as a sophisticated Claims Specialist in a supportive team-based environment. As a Claims Specialist (Property), the successful individual will be working in the Claims Department and will responsible for handling complex commercial property claims files for all of Quebec as well as the Maritimes. Responsibilities: Your responsibilities will include: Providing timely coverage analysis and communication with insured based on application of policy information to facts or allegations of each case Quickly becoming acclimatized with all the operational policies, procedures, workflow and performance standards in order to comply with all regulatory and customer service standards Reviewing and evaluating scopes and appraisal estimates Identifying and engaging appropriate experts (i.e. consultants, accountants and engineers) to evaluate damages Demonstrating a strong understanding of business interruption claims Negotiating and settling claims within authority limits Preparing denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters and other complex correspondence relating to claims issues Being able to handle all aspects of claims administration including: telephone inquiries, general correspondence, file documentation and report preparation Utilizing internal claims system for reserving, diaries, file notations and payments Identifying issues of fraud and engaging the appropriate experts to investigate Ensuring timely recognition of exposure, including collaboration with managment and the Major Case Unit as appropriate Managing vendors with a focus on expense control Maintaining an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with Best Practices Managing file inventory to ensure timely resolution of claims Providing prompt and professional customer service to meet the needs of the insured, broker and internal and external customers Retaining, monitoring, managing and approving payments to outside counsel and consultants while providing exceptional and professional services to clients Managing vendors and controlling expenses Advanced negotiating skills and strategies Assisting in mentoring junior claims and entry level people Some travel may be required (maximum 10-15% of the time) within the Eastern Region Exigences: In order to qualify for the job, the candidate MUST:
