Do you have 10+ years of experience and sound knowledge of capital markets and the financial sector, along with a good understanding of the regulatory landscape?

Are you able to apply that comprehensive knowledge and experience into an advocacy, public affairs, communications and relationship management role? We want to hear from you! Our client, an industry association representing the investment industry, is looking to add a Managing Director to their Toronto team.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, your mandate will be to build industry consensus on regulatory and policy proposals, develop formal industry positions and effectively communicate these positions. You will be responsible for furthering the association’s agenda through advocacy, industry awareness, operational support and market advancement.

The role involves components of advocacy, public affairs, communications and relationship management including:
-identifying legislative and regulatory issues impeding capital markets and/or investment
-researching and drafting submissions to government and regulators on issues affecting capital markets;
-Developing and implementing strategies to advance the industry’s positions
-responding to member questions and addressing relevant issues
-keeping up to speed on developments in local and global trends in the industry and their impact on the Canadian market
-identifying and strategically promoting awareness of the industry
-providing support to President/CEO in preparation of speeches, analysis, etc
-managing media inquiries
-providing strategic communications support to the organization and the industry
-ensuring all promotional materials are ready for dissemination through online and social media avenues
-establishing and managing industry, government and regulatory and professional contacts in the industry
-keeping up to date on developments and trends in the industry to support policy positions and identify new opportunities
-working with other industry associations and organizations to advance positions

Exigences:

You are the ideal candidate if you:

• Have 10+ years’ experience working in securities, capital markets, or finance industry;
• Are forward thinking and strategic, and have the ability to identify emerging trends and critical issues in the industry;
• Have a good understanding of financial and business trends- both in Canada and abroad
• Have exceptional skills of effectively communicating critical information to stakeholders
• Are able to express positions clearly and concisely
• Have excellent drafting and writing skills and a very close attention to detail;
• Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Have exceptional communication abilities
• Have a solid understanding and experience utilizing social media
• Are skilled at planning and coordinating activities in a team environment
• Have excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.
• An LL.B/ JD, or other post-graduate degree preferred
• Connections within the securities industry, government and regulatory bodies is an asset
