Our client, a leading real estate firm in North America is seeking to add a dedicated Associate Counsel with Real Estate experience, to their Vancouver based team.

Reporting into and working closely with the General
Counsel (and Executive Team), the successful candidate will manage litigation files, and provide legal advice to the internal business units as well as external counsel, with respect to the company’s activities which include: property development, construction, commercial and residential leasing, design and property and asset management.

As an integral part of the team, the ideal candidate will take the lead on all real estate and construction litigation matters, managing and resolving the files effectively and expeditiously.

Working independently and overseeing external counsel, the Associate Counsel will be relied for:
• Managing litigation files.
• Providing strategic legal advice to come to effective resolutions through settlement negotiations and/or litigation.
• Identifying and analyzing legal risks and implications.
• Overseeing a variety of claims including: complex commercial litigation, contract negotiation and disputes, corporate finance and tax related matters, construction and builders liens issues, debtor/creditor claims and those that may arise in the various stages of real estate transactions.


- A law degree (J.D. or LL.B.)
- Be a member in good standing of the BC bar
- Have 3-5 years of directly relevant real estate and construction law experience with particular emphasis on: Construction Litigation Matters, Builders Lien Act Issues, and Leasing. Experience or familiarity with Strata Property Act and Real Estate Development Marking Act is an asset
- Experience before various courts and boards including: the Provincial Court, Supreme Court of BC, BC Residential Tenancy Board etc.
- Ability to handle a large volume of files
