This is an excellent opportunity for an Employment Lawyer with approximately 3-7 years of strong experience in their field or an individual with solid expertise in human resources or employment law matters to work in this unique position as a Manager, Employee Relations at an organization with a dynamic and collaborative culture in a one year contract position. This individual will report to the Director, Employee Relations and provide practical, solution oriented employee relations advice and mentoring where needed re: complex employment issues. This Manager will take initiative in their files and support the company’s worldwide offices. They will notify the HR team on relevant global employment laws and practices to ensure compliance and help mitigate risk. The Manager, Employee Relations will also assist with the creation and maintenance of HR policies and practices as well as with ER initiatives and projects as required. This individual will be a critical member of the team of HR professionals.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sound ER advice and information to company managers, HR Business Partners and the HR team to assist re: a variety of workplace issues such as, performance management, discipline and dismissal, etc.;
• Assist managers and employees to effectively resolve workplace matters;
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners to identify areas of improvement in case management;
• Provide assistance with projects to improve HR practices and procedures;
• Review employment policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure that they are current and updated accordingly; and
• Encourage open communication with employees and managers by promoting a culture of partnership and efficiency.

Exigences:

The ideal candidate will be/have:

• Called to the Bar of Ontario is considered an asset;
• Approximately 3-7 years of strong experience in employee relations and employment law matters;
• Sound judgement and solid problem solving abilities;
• Strong communication, advisory and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach;
• An ability to manage complex issues and competing priorities; and
• A flexible approach and an ability to foster solid professional relationships between senior partners and stakeholders.
