Overview

This is an outstanding opportunity to work as a Senior Legal Counsel at a global company and report directly to their General Counsel in Montreal. This lawyer will provide integral legal guidance on various legal matters including corporate, commercial, IP, media, compliance, privacy, litigation management, and employment law. They will play a critical role within the legal team, act as a strategic advisor and provide practical solutions to various business stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior lawyer who is driven, business savvy, and desires to work in a collaborative, forward thinking and thriving environment.

Responsibilities:

Draft and negotiate varied commercial agreements, such as licensing, service contracts, IP, media and marketing;
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements including data privacy;
Manage litigation matters;
Evaluate legal risks and propose practical solutions;
Advise re: employment matters; and
Remain updated re: technological advances and ensure AI tools are effectively implemented as well as applicable policies and procedures.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

A member in good standing of the Quebec Bar;
A Common Law degree considered an asset;
Approximately 5-8 years of pertinent experience acquired In House or in a law firm setting;
Strong analytical, problem solving, drafting and communication abilities;
Capable of effectively working autonomously as well as in a team dynamic and handling competing priorities;
Solid business acumen and interpersonal abilities; and
Driven and a self starter.
