Wills & Estates Lawyer

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded law firm seeking an experienced Wills & Estates Lawyer to join its growing team in Toronto as a Partner or Sr. Associate (depending on experience).This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys sophisticated estate planning work, values strong client relationships, and seeks to further develop their practice within a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will work with a diverse client base that includes business owners, professionals, high-net-worth individuals, and multi-generational families, advising on a broad range of estate planning, trust, and succession matters.
The Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding estate planning matters while providing strategic advice to clients on wealth preservation, business succession, and intergenerational wealth transfer. The successful candidate will have significant client contact and the opportunity to play an important role in the continued growth of the firm's Wills & Estates practice.
Your role will include:
- Advise clients on a broad range of wills, estates, trusts, and succession planning matters.
- Develop and implement customized estate planning strategies tailored to clients' personal, family, and business objectives.
- Draft sophisticated estate planning documents, including Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and related planning instruments.
- Provide advice regarding complex estate planning, wealth transfer, tax-efficient planning strategies, and family wealth preservation.
- Assist clients with business succession planning and post-mortem planning considerations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and practical, solution-oriented advice.
- Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas to provide comprehensive client service.
- Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum 5-6 years of experience practicing in Wills, Estates, and Trusts law. (More experience is welcome!)
- Strong knowledge of Ontario wills and estates law and related planning strategies.
- Demonstrated experience advising clients on complex estate planning, trusts, business succession, and wealth transfer matters.
- Experience working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals
- Experience developing personalized and comprehensive estate plans, including drafting Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney for a broad client base, including UHNW clients, business owners, professionals, etc.
- Strong client relationship management abilities and a commitment to providing exceptional client service.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to help build a practice at a growing firm
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet strict and sometimes competing deadlines, and exhibit sound judgment
- TEP designation, or progress toward obtaining the designation, is considered an asset.
- A book of business is considered an asset.

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications and depends on Partner or Sr. Associate level. Compensation includes salary and bonus.
