Commercial Litigation Associate

Overview

Our client, a mid-size law firm in downtown Toronto, is looking to add a Commercial Litigation Lawyer to its growing team. The role will involve working on a broad range of litigation matters.  The firm is open to lawyers with various levels of experience. 
 
Your role will include: 
  • Working on a wide variety of files, including but not limited to commercial litigation, receivership, real estate litigation including mortgage enforcement and title claims, franchise litigation, derivatives, and professional claims 
  • Providing advice to a range of clients, including private lenders and borrowers, property owners, builders, contractors, landlords, real estate brokers, etc.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis, file reviews, and preparing memoranda and other documents
  • Attending commercial court matters
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:  
  • J.D.  and a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 3-6 years of Commercial Litigation experience (More experience welcomed!)
  • Experience in Commercial Court
  • Experience with insolvency/receivership is an asset
  • Experience in property disputes
  • Excellent drafting and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business instinct and acumen
  • Ability to handle files independently and as part of a team for complex matters
  • Desire to exceed expectations
  • Exceptional time management and project management skills, along with an ability to juggle multiple projects/priorities

This is an active opening for a current role. 
 
The expected salary range is 160,000-200,000 depending on seniority and experience. Total compensation can can include bonus or incentives.
