Overview


This is an excellent opportunity for a Real Estate Associate to join the established team of a respected full-service law firm in Ottawa. This firm is seeking a motivated lawyer with approximately 2-7 years of commercial real estate experience who is seeking to build a long-term practice while working alongside experienced practitioners on a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate matters.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, financings and secured lending matters. This is an ideal opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys taking ownership of files while benefiting from collaboration, mentorship, as well as opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, financing and security documents, and related transaction documents;
  • Advise clients on commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and financing transactions;
  • Conduct due diligence, review title and off-title searches, and assist with transaction management through closing;
  • Collaborate with Partners and colleagues on sophisticated commercial real estate matters;
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering practical, business-focused advice; and
  • Support additional commercial real estate matters as required.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will:
  • Be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario;
  • Have approximately 2-7 years of pertinent commercial real estate experience;
  • Have strong experience with financing transactions, acquisitions/dispositions and commercial leasing;
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to manage files independently while seeking guidance when applicable;
  • Possess strong drafting, negotiating, analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail;
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, a client-focused approach and solid business acumen;
  • Be able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced practice; and
  • Have excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building abilities.
