Legal Counsel- Privacy
Overview
Our client, a growing technology and advertising platform, is seeking a Legal Counsel, Privacy for its dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will support the global legal team on all matters related to privacy matters, particularly in Canada, the EU, and the US.Your role will include:
- Providing legal advice with respect to global privacy, data protection, information, and security
- Providing advice to the global team on privacy regulations
- Monitoring changing privacy laws and advising the company and supporting drafting of new policies
- Identifying new and changing requirements and managing the rollout of compliance requirements with a view to mitigate risk
- Providing impact assessments, audits, certification applications, policies, training, and data subject requests
- Engaging with the government and customers on privacy issues
- Working closely with internal stakeholders, including the information teams, product teams, and security teams, to support the privacy requirements aligning with business considerations
- Providing legal support during incident responses
- A member in good standing with the LSO
- 2-4 years of post-call legal experience in privacy and data protection
- Experience with GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, COPPA etc.
- Experience with commercial transactions and related contracts, especially pertaining to data processing agreements
- The ability to work independently and as a member on a large team supporting a global organization
The expected salary range is 135,000-180,000 depending on seniority and experience. Total compensation might include other incentives.
