Overview

This leading National Law Firm is looking for an experienced employment lawyer - associate or partner level to join the firm and act as the go-to for the department.

With a strong National network, the successful candidate will work amongst leading practitioners .


Responsibilities

The successful candidate:
- Will represent both private and public sector clients on employment and Labour law
matters (i.e. Wrongful dismissal, Human Rights, Constitutional, and Privacy law)
- Will advise on and offering strategic employment law advise in the context of complex
corporate transactions (e.g. employment issues arising out of mergers, acquisitions,
takeovers and reorganizations)
- Will develop executive compensation structures and devising action plans and
termination packages for company relocations, closures, corporate downsizing,
employee outsourcing and contract staffing.
- Provide counsel on the wide array of employment benefit plans and guide fund and
investment managers who manage pension funds.
- From an employer perspective, you will assist clients in structuring pension plans and
other benefit plan trusts – such as employee share ownership plans, bonus and stock
options incentive plans, group benefit plans and supplemental retirement plans.

Requirements

Knowledge of and or aptitude in the following:
o Employment standards, health and safety and the Human Rights Code (as applicable)
o Pension and Employee benefit matters would be an asset
o Counseling employers in a range of employment disputes (mediations, tribunals, courts)
o On the labour side – experience representing employers in union certification drives, collective bargaining negotiations and the drafting and interpretation of collective agreements would be an asset
o Strong leadership skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment
