Where did you go to Law School? Did you always imagine yourself going to Law School/Being a lawyer?

I attended law school at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. I always viewed law school as the natural next step after studying Political Science in undergraduate because I enjoyed critical thinking, writing and problem solving.

When did you realize that you wanted your career to go in a different direction? When did you know you wanted to pursue a “Life After Law” career?

I practiced employment law and knew pretty soon into practicing that it wasn’t what I was meant to be doing. I loved helping people but did not enjoy the adversarial nature of the practice.

How did you make that transition?

While practicing law, I was lucky enough to have a client that was working in recruitment in the legal industry. Our conversations sparked my interest in the profession. I truly felt like it was something I would really enjoy. I could still help people and instead of largely being involved in the end of the employment relationship in a repairing function, I would be involved in the beginning of the employment relationship in a building/creating function.

Did you have any Mentors or Role Models that helped you out along the way?

I formed relationships with various successful legal recruiters in the United States in my early years of my recruitment career and I learned quite a bit from them.

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I love helping lawyers take the next step in their career and identifying opportunities for them that they otherwise may not have been aware of. I take great satisfaction in receiving positive feedback from both candidates and clients after a successful placement, knowing that the candidate has found a rewarding new position and the client has hired an outstanding new employee.

What would you do if you had an extra day in your week?

Spend time with my family.

What do you do in your Free time?

In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my fiancée, my dog and my family. I'm an avid sports fan, particularly when it comes to hockey and soccer. I support the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chelsea FC. I also have a passion for travel and have visited 32 countries, with Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, being my favourite destination to date. When the weather is nice, I enjoy running outdoors. Also, I’m currently taking Spanish classes.
