Are you a Business Law lawyer seeking to utilize your law degree and legal experience in a new, innovative way and play an integral role within a leading, dynamic and collaborative law firm, while still having work-life balance, then Life After Law has an exceptional opportunity for you!Our client, a top tier law firm, is seeking a Knowledge Management Lawyer - Business Law to join their firm in their Montreal or Quebec city offices (hybrid) and occupy a strategic role within their firm. This lawyer will work together with the firm's business law department as well as with other members of their national practice group and be a part of their Knowledge Management team. Candidates should possess strong drafting, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills as well as be highly motivated for this exciting and unique opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and update standard agreements, memoranda and transaction documents;
- Draft and update knowledge charts, checklists, and practice notes;
- Advise the various practice group re: important legal developments, conduct presentations, participate in practice group meetings, and serve as the key contact with administrators nationally and locally;
- Prepare and conduct applicable training sessions for students and articling students, lawyers and staff;
- Contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of the firm's knowledge management platform;
- Promote the use of internal databases and prepare and implement knowledge systems;
- Draft legal news and blog posts and create guides and publications;
- Create and promote pilot projects for the firm's lawyers and clients and advise junior lawyers; and
- Act as a central link between the practice group and business services in order to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications:
The ideal lawyer will have/be:
- A member in good standing with the Quebec Bar;
- A minimum of 5 years of solid legal experience in general corporate law, governance, mergers and acquisitions, banking and/or securities law;
- Strong research abilities and be able to effectively summarize information in a clear and concise manner;
- Strong attention to detail and enjoy training and mentoring others;
- Able to work under pressure, autonomously and in a team dynamic;
- Strong problem solving, analytical and decision making abilities; and
- Bilingual (English and French).
