Corporate (Legal) Services Manager (Within a Leading Law Firm)

This leading National Law Firm is looking for an experienced Corporate Legal Services Manager to oversee the Day-To-Day Operations of the Corporate Services Department.
 
The firm’s Corporate Services Manager will be responsible for allocating work to corporate law clerks in order to ensure consistent and appropriate use of law clerk support by the Business Law group and other legal professionals and will supervise and assist the corporate law clerks in carrying out their duties efficiently.
 
In this self-directed role, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the firm and will take initiative with minimal oversight and lots of autonomy.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • The overall performance of the Corporate Services Department.
  • Development and maintenance of standard forms and documents.
    • Managing department staff, which include the following:
    • Training and Development;
    • Performance Management, including performance appraisal;
    • Recommendation for new hires and terminations and enforcing disciplinary action if and when needed.
  • Coaching and mentoring of law clerks.
  • Reports relating to the status of the department and its staff.
  • Attending meetings with professionals and/or clients to take instructions, obtain required information, review corporate records, compile information, report on status and may recommend course of action.
  • Assisting on and/or attending at closings and other such transactions.
  • Preparing or overseeing the preparation of all documentation relating to any matters within the scope of the department.
Requirements:
 
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have a Law Degree (*Law Clerks and Legal Assistants will be considered) AND a MINIMUM OF 6 YEARS OF Experience as a Corporate Lawyer or in a Corporate Services Department.
  • Have 3 Years of Supervisory/Managerial Experience.
  • Have experience with Corporate Record keeping.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with firm members and be able to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Have the capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Have strong problem-solving skills, along with the ability to set priorities while dealing with conflicting and emerging priorities.
  • Be highly organized.
  • Have strong written, oral and verbal communication skills and possess excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Be able to produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines.
  • Have the ability to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary
  • Be able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
