Personal Injury Associate
Overview
Our client, a well-established boutique Personal Injury firm is looking to grow its Toronto office. They are looking for a Personal Injury Junior Associate Lawyer with 3 or more years’ experience (more experience is welcome!) in plaintiff personal injury or insurance defence.This is an exciting opportunity for a Personal Injury Junior lawyer, to join a dynamic firm and further grow their practice in a professional, collegial and collaborative firm environment.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Provide candid, strategic advice to a diverse range of clients.
- Positively engage your team and conduct regular file reviews to effectively plan and manage each case.
- Draft a range of documents including facta, opinion letters, settlement conference memoranda, pleadings and various applications.
- Conduct legal research.
- Attend examinations for discovery, case conferences, mediations, IBC and other insurance conferences, motions, appeals, pre-trial conferences, trials, and mediations/arbitrations and other hearings at the LAT, etc.
- Attend settlement negotiation.
Requirements:
You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:
- 3+ years experience (more experience welcome!).
- Law Degree (JD or LLB) from an accredited Canadian Law School.
- A Law Degree from another common law jurisdiction.
- Applicants who obtained their law degree outside of Canada must be approved by the NCA.
- A member in good standing with LSO.
- Able to manage a practice on your own.
- Demonstrated knowledge and interest in personal injury law.
- Client-centric focused with a proven passion to make a difference.
- Solution and client service-oriented.
- The ability to independently research and analyze applicable law and matters.
- Mediation and trial experience are an asset.
- Insurance defence experience would be an asset.
- Experience in Small Claims Court, the License Appeal Tribunal, and Superior Court.
- Strong legal research skills and the ability to synthesize information into clear and persuasive legal argument.
