Our client, a highly respected, award-winning, truly collegial and supportive Real Estate company with a diversified portfolio (including commercial and residential real estate across varied asset classes), is looking to add a Junior Lawyer to join their Vancouver Team.

Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Real Estate experience particularly (with experience in construction and development).
As an integral member of this dynamic and collaborative team, you will be involved in a wide breadth of commercial and residential real estate development projects.
It is an exciting role, as the successful candidate will not only work directly with legal but with many different team members across all departments including: acquisitions, sales, leasing development, construction and finance in this team oriented culture


Responsibilities

• Helping to provide counsel on a variety of real estate matters, as it relates to: acquisitions, financings, leasing, sales and general corporate matters.
o Acquisitions: Assisting with due diligence for acquisitions – preparing summaries/legal reports
o Assisting with the closing process (review of documents and general coordination)
o Financing: Review and coordinate security documents; help ensure satisfaction of legal precedents for loans
o Leasing: Preparation of lease documentation (offers, amendments, renewals, extensions, notices)
o Sales: You will also have the opportunity to work with the sales teams in preparing legal agreements and documentation
o Track and summarize offers to purchase
o Preparation of notices, waiver, assignments and amendments
o Review and amend offer to purchase templates and information summaries
o Assist with all aspects of closing (closing notices, coordination of external counsel’s information package; review of strata bylaws, strata plans, parking plans and area measures)
o General Corporate Matters – filing annual maintenance documents, updating minute books, paring and filing LTO documents

• Assisting with the creation of new corporate entities and reorganizations
• Assisting General Counsel, Senior Mangers, CFO and VP Finance with other legal and related matters, as needed

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

• A J.D. or LL.B be admitted to practice in Canada
• A minimum of 3 years experience practising real estate law gained in a firm on in-house;
• Familiarity/Proficiencies with myLTSA and BCOonline preferred
• Knowledge of and experience in real estate development (and sales is an asset)
• Thorough knowledge of industry procedures and principles
• Strong interpersonal and organization skills
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-based environment with a diverse portfolio of work
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Strategic thinking
• The ability to meet deadlines
• The ability to be adaptive to changing needs as projects progress.
