Overview

Our client, an established boutique Family Law firm is seeking to add an experienced Family Law Clerk to their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Law Clerk to join a dynamic firm and further grow their practice in a professional, collegial and collaborative firm environment.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of family law matters including:

• Client intake, initial client calls and schedule meetings thereafter.
• Managing emails, correspondence, calendar entries, client meetings, court dates, timelines etc.
• Preparing and sending correspondence.
• Managing the collection, organization, and review of client documents and information necessary for the preparation of the client’s case.
• Preparing Financial Statements, Net Family Property Statements, Affidavits of Documents, Bill of Costs,
• Preparing first drafts of Applications, Answers, Replies, opposing counsel and other correspondence, and briefs for court and ADR purposes, pleadings and other legal documents as per lawyer instructions
• Managing the receipt of client information to ensure documents and information are received in a timely manner and saved in accordance with internal document management protocols.
• Arranging for filing and service of documents.
• Assisting with other legal administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

You are the ideal candidate if you have/are:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a family law clerk.
• Diploma from a post-secondary institution in law clerk and/or paralegal program.
• A firm understanding of the current Family Law Rules, forms, and court procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, drafting skills (correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, briefs) and outstanding work ethic.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Strong attention to detail and even under pressure, strong analysis, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), together with DivorceMate and drafting court documents (including electronic filing).
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
