Overview

This is a new opportunity for a bilingual junior tax lawyer to join a boutique law firm and work on tax and estate planning matters. This lawyer will be an integral part of the practice and report to the Partner and Senior Lawyer in their Canadian tax group and advise businesses and individuals re: tax and estate planning strategies.


Responsibilities

• Draft and implement tax planning memoranda on (i) tax-driven reorganizations for Canadian businesses and their owners, including rollovers, estate freezes and trust planning, (ii) the purchase and sale of businesses, and (iii) post-mortem tax planning strategies;
• Draft estate planning documents;
• Set up corporate and partnership structures re: tax planning;
• Draft corporate and commercial agreements; and
• Research changes and draft blogs re: Canadian tax and estate planning laws.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be/have:

• A member in good standing of the Quebec Bar;
• Approximately 0 to 2 years of applicable experience;
• An LL.M. in tax or In-Depth Tax Course offered by CPA Canada is considered an asset;
• A particular interest in Canadian tax;
• Bilingual (English and French - oral and written); and
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and drafting skills.
